Video is the best marketing tool to convey any message
What does a videographer do?
A videographer creates a strategy and executes the video production process following the standard workflow of pre-production, production, and post-production. This includes planning the video, shooting the footage, and video editing it into a finished product. These videos can be anything from corporate video production through private events shooting and extreme sports edits all the way to YouTube entertainment.
What is videography?
Videography is the process of capturing moving images on electronic media that can be played back on a television, computer, or projector screen. Videography includes the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production.
It used to be considered the video equivalent of cinematography, but the advent of digital video recording in the late 20th century blurred the distinction between the two.
The modern evolution of videography
The arrival of computers and the internet in the 1980s facilitated a more global communication landscape. This change not only gave rise to new methods of videography, but also allowed for digital animation, gaming, web streaming, and slideshows.
Videographer versus cinematographer
Historically cinematographers work with film, while videographers use electronic media, but the rise of digital cameras has made this distinction blurrier.
The main difference between them is the scale of the projects they work on and the required equipment. Cinematographer typically works on film and television sets, while a videographer usually works on smaller-scale projects. Videographer uses digital hard-drive, flashcards, or tape drive video cameras. Cinematographer uses 70mm IMAX, 35mm, 16mm, or Super 8mm mechanical film cameras.
A videographer works directly with camera equipment to capture images, while a cinematographer works with the director to plan and execute shots. Cinematographers also have a more hands-on role in shooting film than videographers, who rarely step behind the camera.
Types of videography
Corporate videographers
Corporate video production usually entails marketing videos to promote the brand, products, or services. Other cases can be training videos for new employees and educational videos for customers. Videos are an extremely popular format that can convey any message so there are no limits to what videos can be produced. Depending on the size of the business and the goal of the video, production responsibilities can be shared between the producer and the marketing team.
Wedding videos
What couple wouldn’t want to have the best day of their life captured? Wedding videography has become so popular that it can be considered a separate niche.
Birthday parties
Similar to weddings, parents want to recreate the moments of their child’s birthdays to show them when they are older.
Sporting events
Standard big sporting events have been a target of production companies for a long time. But the mass accessibility of video equipment has given rise to independent freelance videographers shooting ski, bike or basically any kind of edit.
Documentaries
Similar to sporting events, documentarists have been making movies since the rise of cinematography. The accessibility of video equipment gave rise to many independent freelance videographers who are documenting anything and everything.
YouTube videography
Not only the accessibility of video equipment but also the easy access to distribution led to the rise of video streamers, influencers, and other independent videographers who are creating videos on a regular basis. PewDiePie and MrBeast have millions of active followers and viewers.

You got to do the same thing as in any other industry. Learn the craft. A standard option is to go to school or college. Videography tips
Research your subject
Research your subject. The more you know, the better story you can tell. If you want to genuinely and authentically convey a message, you need to understand your subject and what they want to tell
Plan your shoot
Start with understanding the goal of your video. What message do you want to convey and to whom do you want to tell it? Start with target audience research. Create a storyboard of your scenes and sequences to guide your shots. Develop a script.
Tell a story
Don’t just shoot and put together a string of random images. They will quickly become boring for the viewer. Your goal is to tell an engaging story that will keep people on their tippy-toes till the end. Have a strong character with a goal, conflict, and resolution. Convey emotions that people understand and stay relatable to your target audience. Your viewers need to see themselves in the story.
Lightning
Lighting is an important aspect of videography. It can set the tone and feel of your video. Be intentional about your lighting. Determine the type of light you need and where to place it to achieve the desired effect.
